The legendary Ali Aliyev entered the history of Dagestan sport with his many achievements, one of which - the number of victories at national championships - remains unsurpassed.

For the first time the famous wrestler loudly announced himself 65 years ago, when he won the USSR-1959 Championship in Moscow as a first-rate wrestler. In total, he won nine times at these competitions, and the last time, and this is symbolic, in front of his native audience in 1970 in Makhachkala.

Neither in the times of the USSR, nor since 1992, when the Russian championships became national championships, which, however, are inferior to the Union championships in terms of competition, none of the Dagestani athletes managed to break Ali Aliyev's record. The closest to his achievement came Olympic champion Zavur Uguyev, who on April 30, entered the final of the national championship, and if the Khasavyurtovite is successful in tomorrow's fight, he will become the owner of seven titles of the main domestic competitions.

Zavur is now 29 years old, and if he stays on the mat as long as Ali Aliyev, who won his last national title at the age of 32, he too can write his name in history.
